Susan Ashton Bourque

Susan is originally from West Palm Beach, Florida where she received her training at the Palm Beach Ballet Center under the direction of Joan Miller, and went on to graduate from the Palm Beach County School of the Arts. Susan danced professionally with the Augusta Ballet in Georgia. In August 2007, Susan and her husband Lance welcomed their first child, Uriel Lydan. Susan joined José Mateo Ballet Theatre in 2001.

Gloria Benedikt

Gloria was born in Graz, Austria and trained at the Vienna State Opera Ballet School and the English National Ballet School in London. She has danced with Meininger Ballet, Ballet Theatre Frankfurt (Germany), Landestheater Eisenach, Independent Ballet Wales (UK), and DanceCyprus. Gloria joined José Mateo Ballet Theatre in 2007.

Madeleine Bonn

Madeleine received her training at the San Francisco Ballet under the direction of Helgi Tomasson, the Royal Ballet of London, Le Centre de Danse de Paris, the Boston Ballet School, Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet, and Lines Ballet. Ms. Bonn joined José Mateo Ballet Theatre as an apprentice in 2004 and is now dancing as a full company member.

Ruth Bronwen

Ruth Bronwen is from the Boston area and received her early training and performance experience with the Boston Ballet. She graduated from UMASS Boston with a B.A. in English and Dance. Ruth has performed with Kinodance, Marcus Schulkind and Northern Ballet Theatre, and Ruth continues to choreograph and perform independently. She joined José Mateo Ballet Theatre 2007.

Jamaal Clue

Jamaal first began dancing at Le Studio Dance in Pasadena, CA under the direction of Philip and Charles Fuller. After graduating from Princeton University, he decided to pursue a career in professional dance while also attending graduate school. Jamaal joined José Mateo Ballet Theatre in 2007.

Angie DeWolf

Angie began her formal ballet training with the Lake Erie Ballet in Erie, PA under the direction of Sharon Filone. She was a member of the Michigan State University Repertory Dance Company and holds a B.S. in Pre-med with a minor in Dance. Angie has danced professionally with the Greater Lansing Ballet Company. She joined José Mateo Ballet Theatre in 2004 as a dancer and joined the faculty in 2005.

Magdalena Gyftopoulos

Magdalena is a 2005 graduate of José Mateo Ballet Theatre’s Young Dancers Program and has also trained with Boston Ballet School and Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre. She joined the company as an apprentice in 2005 and became a full member in 2006.

Noah Kopp

N Noah began his dance training at Dance Theatre Seven in Fairfax, CA. He began his professional career in the Trainee Program at Ballet Austin and joined American Repertory Ballet in New Jersey in 2005. Noah joined José Mateo Ballet Theatre in 2006.

Jessica Kreyer

J Jessica has studied with The Academy of Movement and Music, the Ruth Page Foundation, Pennsylvania Ballet, American Ballet Theatre and The Houston Ballet Academy. She has danced professionally with The Civic Ballet of Chicago, Milwaukee Ballet, Columbia City Ballet, and Ballet Memphis. Jessica is a faculty member at the Boston Ballet School and José Mateo Ballet Theatre. She is married to Boston Ballet soloist Pavel Gurevich. Jessica joined José Mateo Ballet Theatre in 2006.

Charissa Leatherman

Charissa is originally from Durham, North Carolina and received her training on scholarship at Virginia School of the Arts. Ms. Leatherman is a graduate of the University of Hartford/the Hartt School with a BFA in Dance Performance and is a certified Gyrotonic instructor. She has danced with the Charleston Ballet Theatre and The Hartford Ballet. Charissa joined the company in the fall of 2002.

Jenna-Marie Nagel

Jenna is originally from New Hampshire where she began her formal dance training at Ballet New England under the direction of Mihailo Djuric. She has also trained at American Ballet Theatre and Boston Ballet summer intensive programs. Jenna graduated from José Mateo Ballet Theatre’s Young Dancer's Program in 2005. She joined the company as an apprentice in 2006 and became a full company member in 2008.

Desiree Reese

Desireé trained in Virginia at the Southwest Virginia Ballet under the direction of Terri Post. She has danced with Virginia Ballet Theatre and Ballet Magnificat. Desireé is currently studying for her degree in Dance Therapy at Mass Bay Community College. She joined José Mateo Ballet Theatre in 2003.

Elisabeth Scherer

Elisabeth was born in Boston and began formal ballet training with the CityDance outreach program at Boston Ballet. Elisabeth has also studied with American Ballet Theatre, Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre, and the Milwaukee Ballet. Elisabeth graduated in 2001 from the Young Dancers Program at José Mateo Ballet Theatre and then joined the company as an apprentice. She became a full company member in 2002.

Kehlet Schou

Kehlet Schou was born in upstate New York and studied with the School of the Albany Berkshire Ballet, Harid Conservatory and Miami City Ballet. He has also worked for such companies as ABB and Ellen Sinopoli Dance Company. Kehlet joined José Mateo Ballet Theatre in 2007.

Henoch Spinola

Henoch's classical training began with the José Mateo Ballet Theatre and he graduated from the Young Dancers Program in 2006. Henoch also received training in traditional Malian dance with Sedo Coulibaly of Mali and modern technique with Lacina Coulibaly of Burkina Faso. While at the Hartt School he has danced with the Full Force Dance Company. Henoch joined José Mateo Ballet Theatre in 2008.

Ronnie Terrell Thomas

Ronnie's initial training started at the Boston Arts Academy. He has also trained at the Boston Conservatory Summer Dance Program, Dance Theatre of Harlem Summer Intensive Program and Lines Ballet Summer Intensive. Ronnie joined José Mateo Ballet Theatre in 2006 as an apprentice and became a full company member in 2007.

Emma Ward

Emma is originally from Littleton, MA. She trained at The National Ballet School of Canada and the Royal Winnipeg Ballet School of Canada. She has performed with Ballet West and Aspen Santa Fe Ballet. Emma joined José Mateo Ballet Theatre in 2007.

Sybil Watkins

Sybil was raised in Burlington, Vermont, where she trained at Burklyn Ballet Theatre and with faculty from Les Grandes Ballets Canadien. She has also trained with the Joffrey Ballet and Dance Theatre of Harlem, and danced with the Oakland Ballet. Sybil is a graduate of Harvard College and joined José Mateo Ballet Theatre in 2002.

Matt White

Matt started his ballet training in Phoenix, Arizona under the direction of TJ Maheras. He continued his training at Boston Ballet where he danced in several productions. Matt joined José Mateo Ballet Theatre in 1999. From 2002 – 2006 he was on leave and pursued his BFA in Industrial Design at Massachusetts College of Art. Matt returned to José Mateo Ballet Theatre in 2006.

Caitlin Grass

Caitlin started her formal ballet training at Fossemalle Dance Studios in California. She continued her studies with Santa Barbara Ballet School and spent her summers studying at various programs including: Kirov Academy, Milwaukee Ballet School, Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet, and Boston Ballet School. Caitlyn spent two year's with José Mateo Ballet Theatre's Young Dancers Program and was a member of Youth Works. She joined José Mateo Ballet Theatre as an apprentice in 2007.
