The First Annual Dance for World Community™ Festival was a tremendous success with with over 15,000 attendees, the Festival featured 39 diverse performing companies, free classes taught in 20 dance forms, informational tables for 25 local social service and advocacy organizations, food vendors, book signings, and a street dance party for the entire community.
The Cambridge/Boston DWC Festival serves as a national model and, with the anticipated development of the project's global network, DWC Festivals will soon be launched in other parts of the country as well. As such, this Festival presents a unique opportunity for the area's dance community and the community at large.
In collaboration with local civic agencies and businesses, the Festival will feature:
* Area dance companies, youth troupes and free introductory classes, representing diverse forms for dance;
* Table/booth displays by the area's social advocacy/service sector and opportunities for the public to connect with their representatives
* "Dancing in the Street," a come-one-come-all culmination of the day's events with music and other entertainment.
