Dance for World Community™
Dance for World Community™ is a project created by José Mateo Ballet Theatre that harnesses the vastly underutilized power of dance to improve the social and environmental health of our communities locally and beyond. Dance for World Community™ builds local and global networks and creates enduring partnerships across the public, private and non-profit sectors. It invites, engages and empowers everyone to participate in collaborative action and celebration for the well-being of children, their families and their communities.
The Local Modelpiloted in Cambridge, proposes a scale-appropriate set of activities created through cultivated relationships between the Cambridge/Boston dance community and the area’s governmental, cultural and social agencies. The model, which can be adopted and adapted by other communities throughout the United States, encourages creative programming in four key areas: Leadership, Partnership, Outreach, and Celebration.
