Young Dancers Program Dorchester

BALLET CHANGES LIVES.  IT’S REALLY THAT SIMPLE.

In keeping with its long-term vision to provide dance opportunities to all in the Boston area, JMBT has launched a Young Dancers Program in Dorchester for children ages 3 to 9.   At our Dorchester Studio, students will participate in our comprehensive dance curriculum, learn from our exceptional faculty and enjoy a nurturing environment.  At JMBT, we believe that ballet is for everyone and support students in the pursuit of personal excellence.

YOUNG DANCERS PROGRAM, DORCHESTER

JMBT is thrilled to add more classes at our Dorchester Studio in September! Classes will be offered to children ages 3 and up with an additional Creative Dance I class on Wednesday evenings and the introduction of the first level of our Middle Division classes with Ballet Level II.

The Dorchester Studio – located at 14 Cushing Avenue –  will grow in future years to offer classes for students of all ages. Classes are open to boys and girls of all backgrounds. No dance experience necessary.

CLASSES OFFERED IN DORCHESTER

ELEMENTARY DIVISION
Students are registered for class by age as of September 1, 2017.

Creative Dance 1 & 2
Age 3 – Wednesdays, 5:15-6:00 pm OR Saturdays, 9:15-10:00 am  
Age 4 – Saturdays, 10:00-10:45 am

Creative Dance for 3 & 4 year-olds focuses on developing each child’s coordination, motor skills, listening skills and creative voice. Musical instruments, props and stories from diverse cultures are used to foster imagination and develop and awareness of self and others.

Pre-Ballet I & II
Age 5 – Saturdays, 10:45-11:30 am
Age 6 – Saturdays, 11:30 am-12:30 pm

Pre-Ballet for 5 & 6 year-olds introduces students to a more formal approach to the study of dance. Students are introduced to to elements of classical ballet and learn dances from diverse cultures. They also begin to build an awareness of the relationship between music and movement.

Ballet I
Ages 7+ – Saturdays, 12:30-1:45 pm

Students participate in structured exercises at the barre and center and learn basic positions, steps and dance phrases. Classes highlight the joys of movement in a more formal introduction to classical ballet vocabulary and beginning technique.

MIDDLE DIVISION
New students registering for Ballet II must contact the school at 617-354-7467 to schedule a placement audition.

Ballet II (First Year)
Wednesdays, 6:00-7:15 pm AND Saturdays, 1:45-3:00 pm
