Studio Programs Manager
DESCRIPTION
José Mateo Ballet Theatre is seeking a new Studio Programs Manager. The Studio Programs Manager oversees the educational programs for José Mateo Ballet Theatre, and reports to both the Executive Director. This is a full time exempt position and requires 30 working Saturdays per year. Additionally, full time staff attend/staff up to 20 events per year.
Responsibilities include:
- Overseeing and scheduling all studio programs, including children’s classes, adult classes, rehearsals, special events, and rentals
- Primary responsibility for the management of the Cambridge campuses, including:
- Responding timely to inquiries from new and existing students
- Creating strategy for growth of the school through marketing and promotions (with the Marketing Associate)
- Establishing and stewarding partnerships around school programs
- Planning all school activities and other programs as needed, including Open Houses, Spring Repertory Concerts, YouthWorks, Year End Demonstration, and student participation in festivals
- Managing the scholarship program and collecting tuition and fees
- Scheduling and supervising pianists, teachers, work-study students, interns, and maintenance staff
- Facilitating faculty – parent interaction
- Maintaining attendance records
- Administering evaluations
- Coordinating and supporting the scheduling and developing quarterly faculty meetings
- Tracking metrics as assigned
- Implementing, maintaining, and updating policies and procedures
QUALIFICATIONS
- Strong written and verbal communications skills
- Enjoy working in a multi-cultural environment
- Excels as a member of a team
- Working knowledge of Woodpress, Mindbody, Google Suite, Dreamhost, and Authorize.net desired.
- A background in dance and dance education preferred

SALARY
$45,000 a year. This is a full-time exempt position.

Dorchester Location Ballet Instructor

José Mateo Ballet Theatre is seeking an enthusiastic instructor for its Young Dancers Program at both the Dorchester studio and off site classes in the Dorchester, Boston area. Classes range from Creative Dance and Pre Ballet to ages 3-6 years old and Elementary Ballet Levels I and II classes of ages 7-10. Applicants must have experience in ballet and teaching dance to children. This position is a part-time role for commitment for the entire 2025-26 school year, from September through June.
Responsibilities include:
- Assist in developing curriculum for the assigned ballet classes
- Creating an inclusive and welcoming environment for all students
- Working closely with other teachers who teach the same level
- Manage a classroom of young children ages 3 and above
- Ensure consistency in each student’s learning and maintain JMBT’s organizational philosophy
- Act as an ambassador for JMBT’s programs, performances, and events
- Attend mandatory 4-6 faculty meetings throughout the year (to be scheduled in August before the school year)
QUALIFICATIONS
- Ballet experience and minimum one year of teaching experience
- Experience working with young children in an educational or recreational setting
- Excellent communication skills between children, families, colleagues, and administration
- Reliability and punctuality for all assigned classes with additional tasks as needed
- Ability to differentiate instruction to meet each child’s needs
- A positive attitude and passion for instilling a love of dance in each child

Pianist for Classical Ballet Class
DESCRIPTION
José Mateo Ballet Theatre seeks experienced pianists for classical ballet classes in the Young Dancers Program and Adult Open Class Program at our Cambridge studio location. Pianists will have the opportunity to work intensely with a small community of dedicated teachers and students.
QUALIFICATIONS
Must have experience playing for ballet classes, or the willingness to train with the Associate Director. Limited availability each week is fine, as long as the schedule remains consistent for the school year calendar.
