Nutcracker 2024 Community Ticket Access Program

José Mateo Ballet Theatre Presents
The Nutcracker
Community Ticket Access Program

December 7-22, 2024
The Strand Theatre | Dorchester, MA

José Mateo Ballet Theatre’s Community Ticket Access Program (CTAP) promotes equitable access to the arts by providing free and reduced-rate tickets to The Nutcracker to nontraditional audience members. Each year, JMBT partners with over 60 local social service and nonprofit organizations to distribute 5,000 tickets to those who would otherwise be unable to attend a performance for economic reasons. If you are a nonprofit or social service organization, we hope you will consider becoming a CTAP partner and that you will join us for our timeless version of the holiday classic this year.

To attend selected performances of The Nutcracker with free and reduced-rate tickets as part of the CTAP program, all organizations must fill out an application form below.

Please note that tickets are filled on first-come, first-serve basis.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is CTAP?

From José Mateo Ballet Theatre’s inception, ensuring that all individuals have access to ballet performances has been at the forefront of its mission. Since 1989, the Community Ticket Access Program (CTAP) has provided free and reduced-rate tickets to nontraditional audience members. Each year, we partner with local social service and nonprofit organizations to distribute over 5,000 tickets to those who would otherwise be unable to attend a performance for economic reasons. If you are a nonprofit or social service organization, we hope you will consider becoming a CTAP partner and that you will join us for our timeless version of the holiday classic this year.

How do I apply for CTAP?

To attend selected public performances of The Nutcracker with free and reduced-rate tickets as part of the CTAP program, all organizations must fill out an application form. Your responses in the application form will help determine the tickets your organization is eligible for (free or reduced rate). All your responses on the application form are confidential and will only be used by JMBT.

Is there a maximum number of tickets that I can apply for?

Each CTAP partner will be allotted a maximum number of 100 tickets per performance per organization to ensure availability of tickets to the public and other CTAP partners. You can apply for an overall total of 1,400 tickets across all performances (14 performances).

When will I find out about application results?

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis. Organizations will be notified by email of their application results within two weeks. We recommend you apply early as CTAP tickets will be given on a first come first serve basis. Popular performances dates/times will sell out.

I have been accepted as a CTAP partner organization. How do I reserve tickets?

Accepted CTAP partner organizations will be notified via email of approved performances dates/times and number of tickets allotted. You will be given an exclusive code and directions to reserve tickets through our ticketing system on Eventbrite. A CTAP partner may either share the code with their community in order to have constituents reserve tickets themselves, or the organization reserves tickets in bulk and then distributes the tickets to constituents privately. Please be reminded that each ticket code will be programmed specifically for your organization’s requested performance dates and number of tickets for that performance. Once the allotted number of tickets is reached, the code will no longer work.

For example, your organization has applied for 50 tickets for December 14 at 2:00pm. The code will expire after it has been used 50 times. Additionally, the code will only be applicable to reserve certain seating sections (tiers) within the theater.

Do not share the code with outsiders not affiliated with your organization. Unauthorized sharing of CTAP tickets may result in ejection of the partner organization from the program.

How do I receive my tickets after reserving them with the code?

You will receive a confirmation email containing the tickets in a PDF file attachment after reserving them online. You can choose either to print your tickets at home or bring your tickets on your personal device to scan upon arrival at the theater. For those using your devices, we recommend taking a screenshot of each ticket for quick and easy entry.

May I reserve tickets for my constituents at the Box Office for Will Call to pick up?

There is no will call option for tickets. If the CTAP partner organization is reserving the tickets in  bulk, it is the organization’s responsibility to distribute tickets to their own constituents to attend the performance.

A performance that I have requested for has sold out.

Please remember that tickets will be allotted on a first come first serve basis. For ticket requests for sold out performance dates/times, you will be put on the waitlist.

May I request additional tickets?

All accepted CTAP partners may request additional tickets over their 100 ticket cap per performance. Please note that popular performance dates/times may sell out and not be available anymore. Additional tickets requested will be put on the waitlist.

When will I be notified of the waitlist results?

CTAP partners on the waitlist will be notified around Thanksgiving if your tickets have been released from the waitlist.

Can I reserve tickets on the day of the performance at the box office?

CTAP tickets may not be reserved at the box office at the time of the performance – tickets must be reserved online in advance.
