Children from across Massachusetts will be cast in the roles of party children, mice, polichinelles, cherubs, soldiers, and more, some requiring no previous dance experience.
Choreographed by José Mateo, recipient of the Massachusetts Cultural Council’s 2017 Commonwealth Award, JMBT’s production of The Nutcracker is the longest running version of the holiday classic.
Audition Fee: $25
The $25 audition fee may be paid by cash/check on the day of auditions.
Girls: Leotard, tights, ballet slippers (pointe shoes for those with 3+ years training en pointe)
Boys: T-shirt, tights or shorts, ballet slippers
JMBT’s The Nutcracker is a professional production and requires a serious commitment on the part of all of our young dancers
and their families to attend all rehearsals. Rehearsals run October-December – mostly on weekends – at our Cambridge studios located at 400 Harvard Street.
We ask that your arrive to the audition 15 minutes early to review your paperwork and pay your $25 registration fee. Please note that if you are registering more than one child for an audition, you need to use different email addresses for each child. Pre-registration is NOT required to audition, but will save you time on the day-of.
All children cast in The Nutcracker must pay a $200 participation fee. Financial aid is available upon request. Cast members may also need to purchase leotards, tights, ballet slippers and special makeup depending on role. These items are not included in the participation fee.
